During his training he was awarded the “All India Best resident Orthopedic surgeon Award “by Bombay Orthopaedic society for his clinical and academic excellence at WIROC 2008.
He has numerous publications in International orthopedic journals and several chapters in textbooks including chapter on Revision hip replacement in “Textbook of Orthopedics” by Indian Orthopedic Association.
He was awarded the first prize for research paper by young Orthopedic surgeons by Delhi Orthopedic Association (DOACON 2011) for his work on Giant cell tumors of bone.
He was accepted for Australian Orthopedic association accredited fellowship training in Melbourne and Sydney, Australia.
He is one among the few Indians to have been invited to Clinique Generale, Annecy, France, the pioneer center for Shoulder surgery in the world. Dr Kanniraj worked with shoulder surgeons Dr Bruno Toussaint and Dr Jerome Bahurel in Clinique Generale, Annecy, France in November 2017.
